(his childhood sweetheart).
Romantic History:
Before meeting Grace, Sam was romantically involved with Ivy Winthrop. The two met in high school and were deeply in love with one another-they even planned to marry. But Ivy's father Harrison, the ex-governor, had other ideas. He believed his blue-blood daughter deserved better than blue-collar Sam. So, along with Alistair Crane, he devised a plan to split up Sam and Ivy and arrange a marriage between Ivy and Alistair's son, Julian. Harrison ensured Sam got a job on a fishing boat for a summer. During that time he intercepted all of Sam's phone calls and letters to Ivy. Ivy believed Sam had forgotten her, and became susceptible to Julian's charms. When Julian proposed, she accepted. But when Ivy found out on her wedding night that her marriage to Julian was nothing but a business merger, she ran to Sam. And it was on that night that Ethan was conceived…

Sam's worst nightmare came true when stranger David Hastings arrived in

and claimed to be Grace's husband. Since Grace has amnesia, she had no
way
to prove whether he was telling the truth. Sam believed David was a
con-man,
until he came up with compelling evidence. Now, Sam just wants David to
leave town...without Grace.

What Makes Him See Red:
Alistair and Julian Crane. Just because they own most of Harmony, doesn't mean they own the people! Sam is sick of them throwing their weight around…especially in police matters!

If he had one wish:
He would have known from the beginning that Ethan was his son...so he could have had a relationship with him.

Hard-working, loving, always willing to help someone in trouble.
Worst Qualities:
Sometimes does the wrong thing for the right reasons. He believed Grace would be better off not knowing about his relationship with Ivy, but in the end, keeping the secret led only to tragedy.
