NBC introduces a unique children’s series with "Shining Time Station," a family-friendly program that blends live-action storytelling with the beloved adventures of a small blue steam engine. Set in a charming railroad station where imagination and learning go hand in hand, the series invites young viewers to explore stories about friendship, responsibility, and problem-solving.
At the heart of the station is its warm and welcoming manager, Stacy Jones, played by Didi Conn, who helps guide the daily activities of the station and the children who visit. Assisting her is the wise and playful station conductor Mr. Conductor, portrayed by Ringo Starr, who frequently shares stories about the engines and adventures from the Island of Sodor. These tales feature the beloved character Thomas the Tank Engine and his fellow railway engines, whose experiences provide lessons about teamwork, perseverance, and kindness.
Also spending time at the station are scheming arcade owner Harry Cupper, played by Leonard Jackson, and his nephew Billy Twofeathers (Tom Jackson), whose presence often adds humor and conflict to life at the station. Together with the children who pass through each day, the characters create a lively community where stories unfold and lessons are learned.
By combining live-action storytelling with segments from the popular railway tales created by Wilbert Awdry, "Shining Time Station" offers a distinctive blend of education and entertainment designed especially for younger audiences.
"Shining Time Station" is produced for Public Broadcasting Service by Britt Allcroft Company in association with WNET.
