Piper Halliwell
Holly Marie Combs is best known for her roles on "Picket Fences" and "Charmed." She originally auditioned for Prue Halliwell but was cast as Piper Halliwell, the emotional yet fiercely devoted middle sister of the Halliwell coven. On the show, Piper survives a doomed romance with Jeremy, a warlock who plots to kill her and her sisters. Combs later became a producer during the fifth season. After Shannen Doherty’s departure in season three, Combs’ Piper becomes the eldest sister, a role she plays through the series finale in 2006.
Before "Charmed," Combs earned acclaim on "Picket Fences" (1992–1996), winning a Young Artist Award after famously winning over skeptical casting directors. Her early film credits include "Born on the Fourth of July," "Dr. Giggles," and "Simple Men." She also portrayed real-life murderer Diane Zamora in the TV movie "Swearing Allegiance."
In later years, Combs starred in "Pretty Little Liars" as Ella Montgomery, the mother of Aria, marking a successful television return in 2010. She has remained a fan favorite, frequently reuniting with former "Charmed" castmates at conventions.
